About Us

For over a decade, Community Psychiatry has been improving access to psychiatry by creating cooperative relationships with physicians, psychotherapists, hospitals, and insurers. Our group has now grown to 20 private practice offices around the San Joaquin, Sacramento, and Bay Areas. The company currently employs psychiatrists in groups of about three psychiatrists per office.

Our commitment is to make the process as seamless as possible. With one phone call, patients are scheduled for an appointment to see a psychiatrist who accepts their insurance. If you, or your doctor decide that psychotherapy might be helpful, our office will find you a psychotherapist who accepts your insurance as payment in full (a co-payment may be required). All ages and diagnoses are welcome.

About Our Founder
Dr. Mark Levine is the founder and managing physician of Community Psychiatry. He completed his residency in psychiatry at California Pacific Medical Center, is board certified and has been practicing adult psychiatry since 1981.

Since its beginnings in 1995, the goal of Community Psychiatry has been to work cooperatively with hospitals, community agencies, physicians, psychotherapists, insurers and patients to improve access to mental healthcare services.

In addition to his specialties in psychopharmacology and community mental health, Dr. Levine has trained extensively in the applications of stress reduction techniques, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, yoga, movement and guided imagery. He believes that these non-pharmaceutical approaches to mood management and wellbeing can provide great benefit. He also holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
