For our physicians, we manage the paperwork so you can focus on your work with integrity and autonomy.
For our patients, we provide everything from the management of their insurance claims to matching them with the right provider.

We make quality a priority.

Community Psychiatry was launched a decade ago with one primary objective: to improve patient access to psychiatry and to create cooperative relationships with hospitals, physicians, psychotherapists, and insurers. Our goal is to provide patients with knowledgeable, compassionate psychiatrists and providers with the time to focus on delivering the best possible care.

Our group of doctors has now grown to 20 private practice offices around San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento, California and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The company currently employs psychiatrists in groups of about three psychiatrists per office.

Delivering great patient care is only part of the picture.

Our work environment is about the details of physician support. Our staff provides scheduling, collections, and insurance utilization. The goal is to allow our doctors the time to practice, not to worry about paperwork.

Generally, our patients are seen for one-hour initial evaluations. All children are seen for two one-hour evaluations—usually an hour with the family and an hour with the child. The majority of follow-up sessions are 30 minutes. Half-hour sessions provide further opportunity to address the psycho-social needs of our patients.

Because our patients represent a broad range of demographics and diagnoses, they often receive individual, family or group counseling provided by a network of therapists and psychologists within the community. Although the focus of our practice is psychopharmacology, many of our psychiatrists incorporate some psychotherapy into their work—either in the half hour sessions or in additional private practice time devoted to psychotherapy.

As much as possible, the decisions regarding frequency and duration of visits are made solely by the clinicians who determine the course of treatment.

Telemedicine provides state-of-the-art connections.

To provide access to psychiatric care in remote, rural areas of California, our practice recently initiated a telemedicine program. High-definition cameras and flat-panel screens allow patients to comfortably meet with their psychiatrists via a secure video link that ensures confidentiality.

Competitive salaries. Excellent benefits.

In addition to competitive salaries, the company provides full malpractice, medical, dental, vision, and long term disability coverage. Our psychiatrists work 40 hours per week, 46 weeks per year with 30 days per year as paid time off. After the first year, physicians accumulate bonus productivity credits and have the option to participate in a pension fund by allocating tax free earnings.

By providing excellent care to our patients in tandem with a supportive work environment for our psychiatrists, Community Psychiatry combines the best of private practice with the ease and security of an employed position.
