Geraldine Dugan, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Geraldine Dugan is a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed her doctoral degree from U.S. News and World Report’s #1 ranked PMHNP-DNP graduate school program, Rush University in Chicago. She practiced for 8 years as an ANCC certified psychiatric registered nurse III at a large academic medical center in Chicago, IL. In addition to her charge nurse role, she was the head trainer for the hospital’s aggression management program which educated staff on how to effectively de-escalate agitated and/or aggressive patient crises. Dr. Dugan acted as an advocate by providing education on a variety of mental health topics to different departments in the medical center to reduce stigma, enhance awareness, and promote sustained recovery for patients with mental health disorders. She also became certified in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy for depression.
As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Dugan has predominantly treated adults with a wide range of mental health disorders including but not limited to: depression, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and anxiety disorders. Dr. Dugan provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management with special attention to individual needs, personal history, and stressful or traumatic life experiences. You will find that Dr. Dugan strives to create an environment of collaboration, warmth, comfort, empathy, and trust in her practice.
In her spare time, Dr. Dugan enjoys healthy eating, yoga, strength training, hiking, walking her dog, traveling, and spending time with family/friends.
