He attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas where he received his medical (M.D.) degree. He furthered his ophthalmology education with residencies in Galveston, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. After practicing in the eye care field for almost 15 years, he decided to fulfill a passion for study and treatment of human behavior by returning to a residency at the University of Louisville in psychiatry where he earned multiple awards in psychodynamic theory, group therapy, emergency psychiatry, and treating our nation’s veterans. Dr. Garrett believes that true healing encompasses the body, the mind, and the spirit and employs theories of treatment for each including meditation, mindfulness, psychotherapy and psychopharmacological support.

Dr. Pajouhi then trained and completed her residency at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Throughout her education, she has volunteered at free community clinics and written medical articles for publication. Prior to joining Community Psychiatry, she worked at Momentum for Mental Health and Kaiser Permanente in San Jose. Dr. Pajouhi provides medication management and takes a compassionate, evidence-based approach that accounts for the biological, psychological, and social factors that impact each patient’s unique mental health. She believes that utilizing the benefits of psychotherapy, building healthy coping skills, and making necessary lifestyle modifications are all an integral part of treatment. Dr. Pajouhi enjoys empowering and collaborating with her patients in support of their growth towards self-efficacy and optimal mental health. Amanda specializes in medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. She completed her master’s degree at the University of California, San Francisco in 2010, and has spent her career as an NP working in rural upstate New York and in the greater Sacramento area. During this time, Amanda has gained experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with an array of mental health concerns including, but not limited to: mood disorders, attention deficit with hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, Asperger’s and autism spectrum. She enjoys working as a collaborative partner with the patients and families that she journeys with.  Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Amanda worked for 8 years as an RN in various capacities.
