Ramez Ghanbari, M.D., Ph.D
Dr. Ghanbari is a board-certified psychiatrist and neuroscientist with a specialization in psychopharmacology. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Duke University Medical Center, during which he had the pleasure of providing services to diverse patient populations with psychiatric needs. Dr. Ghanbari recognizes the importance of the synergistic effect of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy in achieving a better clinical outcome. He has obtained training in individual, couples, family therapy, mindfulness, and psychotherapy. He also enjoyed helping Veterans achieving their mental health goals at Durham VA Medical Center.
Prior to his medical training, Dr. Ghanbari completed a Ph.D. in Neurosciences at Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center, Canada. The scholarly work consisted of understanding the neurobiological basis underlying mood disorders and investigating the mechanism of action of psychotropic agents aimed at optimizing treatment strategies. He has published numerous abstracts and manuscripts, and presented data at world-class scientific conferences. Dr. Ghanbari has received numerous awards for his research, scholarly and clinical activities.
Dr. Ghanbari provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management to adult and geriatric patients for, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, insomnia, and psychotic disorders. He collaborates with his patients and customizes treatment approaches based on each patient’s unique needs and goals.
