Sean Tai, D.O.

Sean Tai, D.O., is a board-certified psychiatrist with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He originally hails from the L.A. area but attended medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. While in medical school, Dr. Tai co-founded the LGBT Medical Alliance of the New River Valley, a community organization aimed at educating the public in rural Appalachia on LGBT-related health issues. In recognition of his work with LGBT patients, Dr. Tai received the LGBT Health Service Award from the American Medical Student Association/Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (AMSA/GLMA). Dr. Tai subsequently underwent his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, during which he was honored with the resident professionalism award as well as the role of chief resident. As a resident, Dr. Tai pursued specialized training in psycho-oncology through the Arizona Cancer Center and sports psychiatry, working with both college and professional athletes. He strongly holds to a biopsychosocial model of psychiatric treatment and believes that medication, psychotherapy, and social policy are necessary for mental wellness. He has a love for dining out, cooking, and live theatre.
