Stephen Makuch, LMFT

Steve Makuch, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist attended St. John’s University graduating in 1990 with a B.S. in Communication Arts and minor in Business. He attended Antioch University, graduating in 1994 with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology and was licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1999. Steve has worked in the behavioral health industry for over 14 years. He completed his internship at the YMCA Hollywood Counseling Center working with underprivileged families and adolescents, including gang-affiliated youth. Some of his most rewarding endeavors have been treating Bipolar and Schizophrenic patients in partial hospitalization settings such as Didi Hirsch, BHC Alhambra Hospital and Washington Medical Center. Steve also has extensive experience in the healthcare insurance industry, including working as a Case Manager for PacifiCare and United Behavioral Health. Originally from Toronto, he was involved in sports in his youth and by the age of 14 was ranked 3rd in Canada in the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke for this age group. During a four year NCAA Division I athletic scholarship in Track and Field, he helped St. John’s capture The Big East Conference title in 1987. These two physical activities continue to be a passion he incorporates into daily life. In his private practice working with individuals, families and couples, he has helped people work through marital/relationship issues, parenting, occupational stress, depression, addiction, anger management, adolescent and life transition issues.
