Community Psychiatry provides accessible, affordable psychiatric care to communities through cooperative relationships with healthcare providers, facilities, and insurers.
Community Psychiatry strives to be a recognized leader in psychiatric care by providing exceptional treatment and service in welcoming settings and by working cooperatively with mental health stakeholders in our communities.
Dr. Mark Levine established Community Psychiatry’s first outpatient office in California in 2004 after relocating from Michigan. It was Dr. Levine’s priority to provide accessible, affordable psychiatric care to patients from the beginning. With this in mind, he was one of few psychiatrists in California contracting with insurers so that patients could utilize the benefits they already had rather than paying out of pocket for services. This model quickly expanded across California. As the outpatient offices grew, so did the financial support services in Michigan where Dr. Levine continued to employ staff after he relocated to California.

Community Psychiatry is a private practice group that focuses on psychopharmacology, with flexible employment models that allow you to incorporate psychotherapy. For our Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, we manage the paperwork so you can focus on your work with integrity and autonomy.
We make quality a priority.
Our goal is to provide patients with knowledgeable, compassionate providers and providers with the time to focus on delivering the best possible care. Our offices provide warm, welcoming spaces where patients feel at ease and providers are equipped with ergonomic workstations and an exceptional system of administrative support.
Delivering great patient care is only part of the picture.
Our work environment is about the details of provider support. Our staff provides scheduling, collections, and insurance utilization expertise. The goal is to allow our providers the time to practice, not to worry about paperwork.
Generally, our patients are seen for one-hour initial evaluations. All children are seen for two one-hour evaluations—usually an hour with the family and an hour with the child. Follow up sessions are 20 or 30 minutes.
Because our patients represent a broad range of demographics and diagnoses, they often receive individual, family or group counseling provided by a vnetwork of therapists and psychologists within the community. Although the focus of our practice is psychopharmacology, many of our psychiatrists incorporate some psychotherapy into their work—either in the half hour sessions or in add-on time devoted to psychotherapy.
As much as possible, the decisions regarding frequency and duration of visits are made solely by the clinicians who determine the course of treatment.
Telemedicine provides state-of-the-art connections.
Our telemedicine program provides access to psychiatric care in rural areas, University student health centers, and to your patients who may be unable to make it to the office for their follow-up appointment from time to time. High-definition cameras and flat-panel screens allow patients to comfortably meet with their providers via a secure video link that ensures confidentiality.
J-1 and H-1B Visa Sponsorship Available.
Many of our offices are located in designated shortage areas, allowing us to employ psychiatrists who require visa sponsorship. Please contact us to discuss your specific sponsorship needs and our current openings in shortage areas.
