Catherine Brennan, M.D.

Catherine Brennan, M.D. graduated from USC Medical School in 1990 and completed her adult psychiatry residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco in 1994. She practiced at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco and Sacramento specializing in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and served on the volunteer clinical faculties of UCSF and UC Davis. She then joined the faculty of UC Davis teaching residents and medical students and providing psychiatric care for the chronically and severely mentally ill at the Sacramento County Mental Health Treatment Center. She returned to training and completed her fellowship in Child Psychiatry at UC Davis and the MIND Institute in 2004 before joining Community Psychiatry. She continues to serve as volunteer clinical faculty at UC Davis and co-leads a process group for psychiatric residents with her husband Dr. Paul Cox. Dr. Brennan has a special interest in autistic spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Her practice consists mainly of the medical management of psychiatric disorders in children and young adults with whom she likes to work collaboratively. She treats symptoms related to autism, anxiety, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder and OCD amongst others. She is Board Certified in Psychiatry. Outside of her work as a psychiatrist, she is the mother of 3 grown children. She enjoys traveling, yoga and time with family and friends.
